I'm not exactly "off" this week, but my workload has decreased by over half....Initially, I was overwhelmed with anxiety this morning over this prospect. "What am I going to do with myself all week?," I thought. Over the past two months, I am not sure I have had more than one free night a week. You can get used to that lifestyle. Not only my body, but my mind is in constant motion during these times. I find that it is most difficult for me to quiet my mind. I forget about all the things I love to do when I am by my lonesome....knitting, writing, reading, sewing, listening to NPR...I'm a regular nerd :)
This morning and afternoon most of these things were weighing on my mind and I was feeling quite despondent and forlorn as a result. On a whim, I decided to step outside of my box and try a new neighborhood. It's so interesting how one choice can change the tide of things immediately. Opening myself up to this new experience I already feel a little better...a little more hopeful if you will. Spring is just around the corner. The weather has warmed by 20 degrees and I find myself having to change from my winter jacket to my spring jacket. How funny that feeling stuffy in my jacket can actually inspire me to look forward a little to.....well, everything.

25 random things about me
Lately, I've been getting tagged on facebook at least twice a week with this new application where you label 25 random things about yourself. I didn't want to do it on facebook for a couple of reasons....1) I don't know how to do the notes thing, and 2) I would rather blog it :) So here it is:
1. The person I admire the most in the world is my mom. She has 4 kids and doesn’t play favorites ever and secretly I love to hear from her every day…even though I give her a hard time about it. In addition, despite the fact that she is one of the most low maintenance people I know…she continues to manage raising/putting up with a daughter who is completely opposite of her in most ways and still love me ☺
2. I am loyal as they come. Once you are my friend, that's it.
3. That being said about loyalty....I am truly sicilian in that if you lose my trust, you lose my loyalty. Its about trust in mi familia. You are dead to me. (that's a joke…kind of)
4. I take pride in my intuition. I believe in gut feelings....they are always right. I am willing to admit I'm wrong if needed but in most cases, intuition doesn’t lie.
5. Actually, I am very prideful….I am not one who loves to “eat crow” but I will if I have too.
6. I am fiercely independent. Almost to a fault.....I think I was born this way. It’s really hard for me to “let go” and let someone else take care of things.
7. I am happiest when I am traveling. Its exhilarating to be in a new place with new people and a new language. I feel like I can let go of all of the worrisome things in my real life. Plus, you start to realize that the world is much bigger than any worry you have..
8. I never in a million years thought I would love my job. I get to teach kids to communicate....wow. The irony is I think THEY are teaching ME more.
9. My calling in life is to be a performer. I used to sing, and dance every day of my life. In fact, I moved to NY to pursue this very dream....but its been 5 yrs and let's just say that NY can be very distracting.
10. I love music. The ipod has been the greatest invention for me. Before that I would lie in front of my jambox for hours...
11. I hate mayonnaise, shaving cream, toothpaste and certain lotions. I am learning to like mayo but only in small quantities. Something about the texture or smell of these things makes me cringe.
12. I am a very passionate person….about everything. I get excited about life, I guess.
13. I’ve been called feisty on several occasions by various different people. Secretly, I love being identified in this way…I take it as a compliment.
14. I am a worry wart. When I worry, I get anxious. It’s an ongoing process of self-help for me to realize that some things just are the way they are.
15. The older I get, the more comfortable I get in my own skin. I love the way I am but I am also eager to learn more so there is always room for change.
16. I must emote….this kind of goes with the feisty and being passionate thing…maybe the performing thing too. My point is that no matter what I am feeling I have to express it.
17. I am non-confrontational. So if I am angry with you, I won’t say anything. Usually I get over it in a few minutes anyway….and if I don’t, then I can be a little passive aggressive…sorry.
17. No matter where I do or what I do…my heart is always in New York…specifically Brooklyn. I had a love affair with this magical place before I even stepped off the plane ☺
18. I love words. I am a voracious reader. When I was younger I would make my summer reading goal 100 books. Crazy but I did it.
19. I hate being sick….hate it hate it hate it.
20. I am apprehensive of open water and mountains….I lose my sense of my body in space when I am around either.
21. I can recite the 50 United States in alphabetical order.
22. I love instantly connecting with someone.
23. I put pictures on my phone to help inspire me throughout the day….currently, I have a pic of some friends dancing along the Quai in Paris.
24. I love to socialize…I love having tons of friends and introducing them all to each other.
25. I love the mysticism of religion. Although I am not a die hard religious person, I was raised Catholic so I’ve always been taught to pray to saints and believe in visions….The older I get, I realize that some of that stuff might be a little crazy, but it doesn’t keep me from asking St. Anthony to help me find my keys. It also gives me a little comfort to know that there are about a million religious statues on my block.
