musically overwhelmed

The amount of music that I have downloaded/bought in the past week is overwhelming. Here are just a few of the things I have been listening too:

TV on the Radio - Dear Science
I haven't really been able to get into this one yet...well, any of them (there are so many!) but I can already tell it's a winner. It's so different from their first album Return from Cookie Mountain. Although I liked Cookie, I just wasn't obsessed with it. There are certain tracks on Dear Science that I feel like I will be obsessed with soon....

Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim
This album is ridiculous...in a good, awesome, no words good enough for it kind of way. All the blogs are talking about how amazing it is and the main reason why they love it so much is because Little Miss Laura apparently wrote this album at 17 years old. The lyrics and music are just beautiful.

Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line
This is cute, fun pop music. I like them because they have two string instruments in the band...the cello and violin...I am a sucker for both. They remind me of Vampire Weekend but less tweeky.

Lykee Li - Youth Novels
She's Swedish and everyone knows how awesome the Swedes are about their pop music. Seriously, there are blogs devoted soley to pop music. Do you remember Robyn who sang "Show me Love"? She's swedish and we thought it was a one hit wonder but no....that girl came back this year with a new album and people have been singing her praises. But I digress....this was an album that I love more and more each time I listen. I don't know how to explain her. Just listen.

Ok, so that is all for now, but seriously, i am downloading more as we speak ! The new Cold War Kids, Jenny Lewis and Kings of Leon cds are in queue. Music and I took a little break this summer but I am so glad that it is back ! Just bought tickets for the Ting Tings....I'm dancing a little jig as I type! "Shut Up and Let Me Go ! Hey !"

energy

It's been quite a week. Date on Sunday. Book Club on Monday. Free happy hour on Tuesday = bad bad hang over on Wednesday. Dinner with a friend on Wednesday. Rooftop movie on Thursday night and now a wedding in DC all weekend. Even reading the list is exhausting ! Many people have said to me on several occasions that I have a lot of energy...more than the average person kind of energy....and I have to admit that although I do not really comprehend the energy "average"...I am growing to understand that these people are probably right.

So, what's the answer ? Well, one thing I've noticed is that I put much of my energy into people or things that don't necessarily interest me or reciprocate the energy back. I think it's time to cut some corners. I think....I'll keep you posted 'cause this is going to be hard.

Fall Weather is scattering my brain

It's true....maybe it's the wind...or maybe it's the newish feel of cool weather every morning when I leave my house....Whatever it is, I find that I cannot think straight this morning. I find myself wanting to comment about ticketmaster's new promotional thing where you get a coupon to redeem for one free song for each ticket you buy from them...not bad, right ? Although, I rarely want to buy just one song so we'll see how this works out....

Other things on my mind....I am always late for work....Do I really want to curl my hair today ?....those poor people losing jobs in the financial world !...speaking of jobs, how did i stoop so low as to have an 8 am appt every morning ?...if i had just woken up to work out in the morning these past two weeks, i would not have scheduled these 8 am appts !....I am so excited about my rooftop happy hour tonight !

ME YOU AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW

Has anyone else seen this movie ? I was enraptured within the first minute....I've barely finished it and here I am blogging about it. I am so connected to it even though I've stopped to write about it. What is that all about ? I think I have a good guess. Lately, I've been obsessed with the idea of having some sort of passion. You meet people all the time who have this one thing that drives them from day to day and there is something so beautiful about it. I feel like I am constantly in search of what that might be for me. It's the reason why I can't let myself sit still for a moment...not even while watching a movie which I claim to be enraptured with.
