sunshine

In light of today's rain, why not talk about sunshine ? Yesterday was so beautiful...if it had been 5 degrees warmer, I would have lost my mind with happiness. Nonetheless, it was a sunny 58 degrees and that wasn't so bad. I started to notice that I am chasing the sunshine ! It doesn't matter how many times I have to cross the street to get to it. I feel like a flower or plant or something....haha The whole day made me really excited about spring. Some things to get excited about: Cherry Blossom Festival, beer gardens, outdoor brunches. Don't let your mind go to crazy thinking of the possibilities like I do !

Also, I found some new music yesterday, but I am not so ready to blog about it yet...still in the investigation phase...on the other hand, I can't tell you enough about how much Bon Iver rocks.

singer songwriters

Tonight I was invited by a friend to the Hotel Cafe which featured various popular singer songwriter types like Ingrid Michaelson, Josh Radin, Cary Brothers...I don't want to sound pretentious, but so many of them sound alike. They have gorgeous voices, but from song to song it's difficult to decipher which one is which. I'm not going to lie...I like to indulge and some of these artists are definitely a guilty pleasure from time to time so I don't want to hate too much. But do you get my drift ? I don't know....I guess I get bored with this genre of music. In the end, they just don't make my top 25 rated ipod list.

Easter

Easter. It's not one of my favorite holidays, but it is still a holiday where I usually spend a large amount of quality time with all of the italians I call family. This year I wasn't able to go home for Easter so I decided to invite all my peeps over to continue the tradition of gathering with loved ones to eat and yell at each other :) Thank goodness I didn't get my wish at all. Instead, I was able to spend time with my friends eating good food and enjoying great conversation...there wasn't any yelling at all !

I was able to fit 20 close friends in my large studio for chicken, (the best) ham (ever), and various sides. It was such a blessing to spend this day creating memories with these wonderful people. The weather was so wonderul. Spring is here, and summer is only around the corner ! I am so excited !

what i've been listening to

Lately, I've been listening to Bon Iver. His music snuck up on me in it's own subtle way. The first single I heard was "Skinny Love," and I was intrigued. In addition, there were multiple blogs and reviews that did nothing but speak highly of this new artist. Apparently, Bon Iver is the monniker of Justin Vernon, who decided to write this album while hanging out in a remote cabin in Wisconsin during winter. Bon Iver is also a play on the french words for "good winter." In my opinion, anyone who can make winter sound this good is amazing.

I'm not sure if I can describe the music accurately, or even, how I feel about it....It's beautiful, sweet...I get lost in it as I am listening. Please check him out :)

Daylight coming

It was a quiet weekend. I could feel the change in weather, even though the rise in temperature was slight. I could see the light of day changing...next week is daylight savings time ! Just one step closer to spring ! I can't wait...I'll be walking in the cold, brisk air but the sun's rays are so warm on my head.....one step closer to happiness because I have had one bad case of seasonal affect disorder in the past couple of weeks.
